When I don’t have time to prepare a meal, I usually head for the blender. In a matter of a few minutes, I can have all my necessary daily nutrients blended up into a tasty smoothie. Almost no effort and I can whip up a quick and healthy drink? Count me in! (more…)

In Season: Tomatillos
Saturday, August 18th, 2012I scream, you scream, we all scream for…salsa verde! Ay ay ay! I know I’m not the only one who gets excited over salsa verde whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant. Tangy, fresh, and a little zesty…how can you resist?! If you love salsa verde, thank the “little tomatoes” called tomatillos.

Ah, the Taste of May: 5 Healthy Mocktails
Tuesday, May 1st, 2012It’s May, and it’s hot outside. Oh wait, no it’s not (at least not in SoCal)! Funny how it was perfectly hot and sunny outside when I photographed these refreshing mocktails way back in March. How’s that for some irony?
Anyway, it’s probably hot wherever you may be, and you’ll be needing some refreshing drinks to cool off after a long day, am I right? Not only are these mocktails refreshing, but they’re healthy (bonus points!) and don’t require a juicer (more bonus points!). Well, a juicer would be handy, but I got by just fine with a blender and some good old fashioned squeezin’. (more…)
